This month, we are learning about cities and towns, as well as the places that we visit within them. The children chose five of our vocabulary words each to include in their creation of unique towns. 今月は「街」や「町」について学んでおり、その中で訪れるさまざまな場所にも注目しています。子どもたちは、それぞれ5つの語彙を選び、自分だけのオリジナルの町を作る活動に取り組みました。
In circle time, the Cubs chose places for our class town. They used lego to work together to build a zoo! Circle Timeでは、Cubsの子どもたちがクラスの町に入れたい場所を選びました。そしてみんなで協力して、レゴを使って動物園を作りました！
This month’s theme is “Our Town!” To explore the different places around our schools, we went on a fun scavenger hunt. The Advanced Green class, who are more familiar with the neighborhood, followed the streets to see if they could find each place listed on their worksheet. They did a great job navigating and spotting local services! 今月のテーマは「Our Town!（わたしたちのまち）」です。学校の周りにあるさまざまな場所を探検するために、楽しいスカベンジャーハント（宝探し）に出かけました。Advanced Greenクラスの子どもたちは地域に慣れているので、ワークシートに書かれた場所を地図を見ながら探しに行きました。上手に道を見つけ、地元の施設を発見することができました！
For this week’s gym game, the Red and Blue Classes had a blast playing “Cops and Robbers”! The police officers worked hard to guard the “money” placed at the center mat—our pretend police station—while the robbers tried to sneak in and grab it without getting caught. The children absolutely loved this game, and wanted to have a go at it again and again! 今週のジムレッスンでは、RedクラスとBlueクラスが「Cops and Robbers（警察と泥棒）」というゲームで大盛り上がりでした！警察役の子どもたちは、中央のマット（仮の警察署）に置かれた「お金」を守り、泥棒役の子どもたちは捕まらないようにこっそり取りに行くというルールです。子どもたちはこのゲームが大好きで、「もう一回やりたい！」と何度もリクエストしていました。
The Preschool Classes will be roleplaying as postal workers at the end of the month! To get ready, they’ve been practicing recognizing their own names. For each name, the children said it aloud, cheered it, counted how many letters it had, and clapped out each one. Afterwards, they mixed up the letters and tried to put their names back together—just like sorting mail! 幼稚園クラスでは、月末の郵便局ごっこに向けて郵便屋さんになりきる準備を進めています。まずは自分の名前を認識する練習をしました。名前を声に出して読んだり、応援スタイルで言ってみたり、文字数を数えたり、一文字ずつ手をたたいてリズムをとったりしました。最後に文字をバラバラにして、それを正しく並べ直すという、まるで郵便の仕分けのような遊びにも挑戦しました。
This week, the children got creative with our “mailbox” craft! They designed and decorated their very own unique mailboxes, then carefully folded and taped them into 3D shapes. We’re excited to use these special creations during our post office roleplay at the end of the month! 今週は“Mailbox（ポスト）”クラフトにも挑戦しました！子どもたちは、それぞれ自分だけの特別なポストをデザイン・装飾し、慎重に折ってテープで貼り付けて、立体の形に仕上げました。この作品は月末の郵便局ごっこで実際に使う予定なので、みんなとても楽しみにしています。
The Owls took on the role of postal workers in a fun and active delivery game! They raced through an obstacle course—balancing on beams, crawling through tunnels, and weaving around cones—to deliver packages to the other side of the gym. It was a great way to combine movement with our monthly theme! Owlsの子どもたちは、郵便屋さんになりきって、元気いっぱいの配達ゲームに挑戦しました！平均台を渡ったり、トンネルをくぐったり、コーンをジグザグに走り抜けたりしながら、荷物を体育館の反対側に届けるという障害物コースを楽しみました。たくさん体を動かしながら、今月のテーマにも楽しく取り組むことができました。
For the Red and Blue Classes, the children used Google Maps to search for different types of services by typing them into the search bar. They were so excited when they recognized familiar places they had visited before! RedクラスとBlueクラスでは、Google Mapsを使って、いろいろな施設を検索する活動を行いました。検索バーに言葉を入力して、これまでに行ったことのある場所や知っているお店などが表示されると、子どもたちはとても嬉しそうでした！
