Many of the children in Blue class attempted the YLE test in November. To prepare for the speaking part of the test, the children practiced making stories in clear sequence as well as talking about differences between similar pictures. They enjoyed the puzzle aspect of the exercise and also did well to clearly tell a simple story, speaking in full sentences.

The children had a lot of pair work exercises in recent weeks. They used a questionnaire from their activity books to talk to each other about a chosen topic. They went on rotation around the room and repeated the same conversation but each time with a different classmate. They got a lot of natural speaking time, both asking and answering each other’s questions. They did well to match pace with each other.

In the most recent unit of their course book, the children in Blue class have been learning about the countryside and the natural elements we can see there. The topic of a “Perfect Picnic” scene came up in one of our lessons. The class is making a craft to depict what they imagine as a beautiful picnic scene. It is fun to see them brainstorm where to put mountains, grass, lakes, and picnic blankets in their artwork. They are challenging themselves to make it completely out of paper shapes instead of just drawing.
