Within these first months, the Blue class has already worked so hard to take what they learned during preschool and apply it to the more complicated writing, listening and speaking tasks in class.

As a warm up, the children explained to each other what actions they could see people doing in the pictures. “She is listening to music. They are going shopping.” This really encouraged the children to multitask, reading the red phrases, looking for the matching picture and thinking of how to create a sentence to tie it all together.
ウォームアップの時間には、テキストの絵を見ながら「She is listening to music.（彼女は音楽を聴いています。）」や「They are going shopping.（彼らはショッピングに行きます。）」など、確認できるアクションを説明し合いました。このウォームアップを通して、文章を読みながら、それに合う絵を探し、どのように文章を作るのかを考えるマルチタスクが身につきます。
The children then quite enjoyed being read the English version of Mottainai Grandma. The children talked with each other about how often they leave food on the plate, leave the water running or waste paper. Many of the children gave examples such as, I never leave food on the plate because it is wasteful, to explain their real life situation.
Blueクラスでは、絵本『もったいないばあさん』の英語版がお気に入りです。絵本を読んでから、どれくらい食べ物を残すのか、水を出しっぱなしにするのか、紙を無駄に使っているのかを話し合いました。また、多くの子が「もったいないので、食べ残しはしません。」など、実際のシチュエーションを説明してくれました。
After reading the book, we started to talk and think about things we must and mustn’t do. We decided to think about class rules and the children created a list of rules to follow in class. Each team of 3 wrote down a rule and everyone signed it at the bottom with their fingerprints.
本を読んだ後は、「やらなければいけないこと」と「やってはいけないこと」について話し合いをしました。そして、クラスルールを考え、リストにしました。それぞれのチームが1つずつルールを書き、最後には全員が署名と拇印を押しました！
