The Yellow class has been busy putting their knowledge of animals and recycling at use this month as we began our big, paper mache animal project. After studying all about animals in our Everybody Up textbook, the children decided they wanted to make their own animals to take home with them. Each child chose an animal from our book, decided which body parts they needed, and went to work making their animals using recycled pet bottles, toilet paper rolls, and old newspapers.
イエロークラスのみんなは今月、動物やリサイクルについて知っていることを生かして、紙粘土を使って動物を作ることに取り組みました。エブリバディ・アップのテキストで動物について学んだあと、自分たちで動物を作って持ち帰ることにしました。子ども達はそれぞれ好きな動物を絵本から選んで、どんな体のパーツが必要か考え、そのパーツをペットボトルやトイレットペーパーの芯を、古新聞などをリサイクルして作りました。
The children drew a plan and wrote about the animal they would make, then constructed the animals using our recycled materials.
みんなはどのように自分たちの動物を作るかを描きだし、リサイクルの材料を使って動物を組み立てました。
They worked carefully to cover their animals with our sticky newspaper paper mache, then painted a white base over everything.
子ども達は慎重にのりを付けた古新聞で作った動物を覆い、その上から白い下地を塗りました。
After painting the appropriate colors and developing unique backstories for all their animals, the children used tape measures and scales to determine the exact weight and length of their animals.
その後は色付けをして動物たちのユニークなバックストーリーを話し、巻き尺や天秤を使って自分たちで作ったどうぶつの正確な重さや長さを測りました。
The children looked forward to working on this project little by little each class, and I’m so proud of the hard work and creativity they showed!
授業ごとに少しずつこのプロジェクトに取り組むことをみんな楽しみにしており、みんなの努力と創造性をとても誇らしく思います！
