Although the children have learned to speak English from a very young age, some find grammar to be quite difficult. We decided to practice building sentences by having the children write ideas on their cards (who, what, where). Then, the children took turns seeing what silly sentences they could make using the cards. The children giggled as they excitedly watched the strange but unique sentences being built!
アフタースクールに参加している生徒達は幼い頃から英語を話すことを学んできましたが、文法に関してはまだまだ難しいと感じている子もいるようです。そこで、今回のレッスンでは、生徒達にアイデア（who＝誰が／what＝何を／where＝どこで）をカードに書いてもらい、文章を組み立てる練習をすることにしました。そして、生徒達は順番にそのカードを使ってどんな面白い文章を作れるかチャレンジしました。ユニークでおかしな文章が出来上がっていくのを、生徒達はワクワクしながら見守っていたのですが、皆くすくす笑いが止まりませんでした。
In Unit 6, we have been talking about “Weather.” In this lesson, the children paired up to answer questions on this poster such as “What should people wear in this weather?” Or “What can they do?” Afterward, the children talked about their posters with their partners. The children put their minds together and helped each other with spelling and getting their thoughts organized.
コースブックのUnit 6では、「天気」について取り上げています。このレッスンでは、生徒達はペアになって、このポスターに書かれた「このような天気では何を着るべきですか?」や「何ができますか？」などの質問に答えました。その後、自分のパートナーとポスターの内容について話し合い、お互いに協力して、スペリングや自分の考えを整理しました。
At the end of class, we try to set aside time for some review games of what we’ve learned from that lesson. In this game, the children had to choose between “was” and “were” when the teacher said a pronoun (for example, if the teacher said “The girl….” the children would have to run to the “was” card). It was a very heated game, and the children cheered each other on!
レッスンの終わりには、その日に学んだことをゲーム形式で復習する時間を設けるようにしています。このゲームでは、担任がある代名詞を言ったとき、生徒達はそれに続くbe動詞の「was 」と「were」のいずれかを選択します（例えば、先生が「その女の子は（The girl・・・）」と言ったら、生徒達は「was 」のカードに走らなければなりません）。この日もとても白熱したゲームになり、お互いに声援を送り合う姿が見られました！
