Within our first three units, the Yellow class discovered how they could not only read, write and speak English but also translate what they were learning into real life context.
4月から新年度のレッスンが始まり、3ヶ月が過ぎようとしています。Yellowクラスの最初の3つのレッスンユニットでは、英語を読む・書く・話すことはもちろん、生徒達が学んだ内容を実生活の文脈に置き換えて活かすことができるように授業を進めていきました。
In the first unit, it was brave for the children to think about what they were good at and bad at and depict it as drawings that they shared with their classmates.
最初のレッスンユニットでは、生徒達が自分の得意なことや苦手なことを考え、それを絵に描いてクラスメートと共有しました。
In the second unit, we truly learned how enormous sea animals really are in comparison to humans by reading the measurements and recreating the length to see the true size.
続いて2つ目のレッスンユニットで、海の生きものについて学んだ時には、海獣達の実物の大きさを再現してみました。本当の大きさを知ることで、我々人間と比較して、海の動物達がどれだけ巨大なのかを実感することができました。
In the third unit, we learned about how to describe the appearances of ourselves and others. The children brought in photos of their family and answered their classmates’ questions such as, “Which one is your brother? He’s the one with short, black hair.”
3つ目のレッスンユニットでは、自分自身や他の人の外見を表現する方法について学びました。
ある日のレッスンでは、生徒達には家族写真を教室へ持って来てもらい、クラスメイトへ様々な質問を行ったり、また質問に答えるアクティビティを行いました。
「Which one is your brother？（写真の中のどの人が、あなたのお兄さん／弟ですか？）」「He’s the one with short, black hair.（この背が低くて、黒い髪の男の子です）」等、これまで覚えた様々なボキャブラリーを駆使しながら、相手へ的確に質問したり、分かりやすく説明する絶好の機会となりました。
