Before we open our books, we always take time to talk about the vocabulary or grammar of the day. After introducing the words, we usually spend time playing a quick game. In Unit 2, we talked about frequency and routines. The children challenged each other to a game of, “Rock, scissors, paper,” and asked each other, “How often do you..?” The children enjoyed moving about and challenging as many people as possible!
Pinkクラスでは、レッスンが始まりテキストを開く前に、いつもその日の単語や文法について話す時間を取っています。いくつかの単語を紹介した後は、それらを使った簡単なゲームも行っています。この日はコースブックのUnit 2で、「頻度」と「ルーティン（日課）」について話し合いました。その後、生徒達は「じゃんけんゲーム」にチャレンジし、クラスメイトと「どのくらいの頻度で…？」などとお互いに質問し合いました。みんなで教室内を動き回りながら、できるだけ多くのクラスメイトに質問することを楽しんでいました！
Sometimes, we encounter story pages, where the children spend time reading a little comic about the “Friendly Farm”. After reading independently, they listen to the story together with the audio. Reading “in your head” is still difficult for some children, as many still need to sound out the words to read. We hope to keep working on reading by reviewing the vocabulary frequented in the books, thereby making it easier to read.
こちらの写真は、レッスン中にテキストの「Friendly Farm（フレンドリー・ファーム）」という物語の漫画を読んでいるところです。生徒達は自分ひとりで読んだ後、音声でそのストーリーをもう一度聞いています。「頭の中で読む」ことがまだ難しい子もおり、多くの生徒達は依然として単語を音に出して読む必要があるからです。物語の中によく出てくるボキャブラリーを復習しながら、より読みやすくなるように今後も取り組んでいきたいと思います。
In Unit 2, we learned about “must” and “mustn’t” during one of our grammar sections. The children split up into small groups and came up with class rules. Some were able to write sentences, while others struggled to come up with ideas. Afterward, we shared our ideas by going up to the front of the class and presenting.
コースブックのUnit 2では、文法のセクションで「must」と「mustn’t」について学びました。そこで、グループに分かれて、Pinkクラスのルールを考えてみました。文章で書いてみる子もいれば、なかなかアイデアが浮かばず苦労している子もいました。その後、全員の前に出て発表を行い、自分達のグループのアイデアをクラスメイト達と共有しました。
