This month, we celebrated Tanabata! Since it can be difficult for our preschoolers to think of wishes for the future, they instead talked about the things they enjoy and what makes them happy.

7月は七夕を祝いました！幼稚園クラスの子ども達には、将来の夢を考えるのがまだ少し難しいので、それぞれの好きなことや幸せを感じられることについて短冊を書きました。
Red & Blue
The Red and Blue classes also celebrated Tanabata by brainstorming their wishes before writing them on their tanzaku. They spent time practicing the language they would need to express their hopes and dreams before proudly decorating and displaying their wishes.
RedクラスとBlueクラスでは、短冊に願い事を書く前にブレインストーミングを行いました。また、願い事を書くために必要なエクスプレッションを練習してから、実際に短冊に願い事を書き、デコレーションをして仕上げました。
Advanced Yellow
In July, the theme of the month is “At the Beach.” To introduce the topic, Advanced Yellow played a game of “Pirates in the Caribbean.” The children split into two teams: explorers, who tried to steal the treasure, and pirates, who defended it. It was a lively activity and encouraged a lot of team work!

7月の学習テーマ『At the Beach』に沿って、Advanced Yellowクラスでは『パイレーツオブカリビアン』というゲームを楽しみました。2組に分かれ、1組は宝物を盗もうとする冒険者チーム、もう1組はそれを阻止する海賊チームでした。チームワークが需要となる、エネルギッシュなアクティビティでした！

Over the past few weeks, all of the elementary classes have been working on their aquarium projects. Before they could begin building, the children visited the craft room to collect the materials they thought they would need for their designs.

この数週間、小学生クラスでは『水族館プロジェクト』を行っています。水族館を設立する前に、クラフトルームに行って必要な材料を自分で選びました。

For some children, it was difficult to imagine everything they would need before starting their projects. As they began building, they quickly discovered new ideas and made several trips back to the craft room for additional materials! Before long, they became much more confident at discussing their ideas with their teammates, dividing responsibilities, and working together to meet their project deadline.

水族館を作るのに、どんな素材が必要か想像もつかないこともありましたが、作り始めるとどんどんと新しいアイデアをひらめき、違う素材を求めてクラフトルームを再訪問しました！そして、チームメイトとのアイデアの共有や役割分担、締め切りまでに力を合わせてプロジェクトを完成させるスキルが身についていきました。

As I visited each classroom to see how everyone was progressing, it was wonderful to see the different approaches each class had taken. Some groups were already proudly showing off their creative ideas, while others were still experimenting and refining their designs. We can’t wait to see all of the finished aquariums next week!

各クラスの進み具合を見に回っていると、同じプロジェクトを行っていても、各クラスのアプローチが異なることが分かり、とても興味深いです。クリエイティブなアイデアを具現化しているグループもあれば、実験をしながら慎重に素材を選んだり、デザインを洗練してくグループもありました。次週の完成がたのしみです！
Preschool
Meanwhile, our preschoolers have been busy preparing for their firefighter role-play! They worked together to paint a giant fire truck using raincoats to help protect their clothes—although, for some children, the paint still managed to find its way everywhere!
プリスクールクラスでは、消防士ごっこ（ロールプレイ）の準備を進めています！レインコートを着て、大きな消防自動車のペイントに挑戦しました。レインコートを着ていてもなぜかペイントがあちらこちらについている子も見受けられました・・・
On the day of the role-play, the children climbed aboard their fire truck and eagerly waited for an emergency call. After a few moments, the walkie-talkie suddenly crackled to life.
ロールプレイ当日、みんなで消防自動車に乗り込み、救急通報を心待ちにしていました。すると、トランシーバーが鳴り・・・！
“Help! Help!” a voice called.

子ども達は『どうされましたか？！』と返答しました。
After finding out where the fire was, they sprang into action, gripping their hoses tightly as they raced to the rescue.火元を発見すると、ホースをしっかり握りながら放水体勢をとりました。
When they arrived, the teachers pointed to several buildings that were “on fire.” Without hesitation, the children sprayed water to put out the flames and save the day!現場に到着すると先生が燃えている建物を指さし、みんなためらうことなく火に向かって放水し鎮火しました！
